Don’t have a waffle iron but still want a batch of fluffy, warm waffles? You can enjoy this version of your favorite breakfast treat by making the waffles on a grill pan. Once cooked on the grill pan, the waffle will feature a similar texture to ones cooked on a waffle iron, and will taste just as delicious.
- Waffle batter
- 1 tablespoon canola oil or melted butter
- Maple syrup (optional)
- Prepare your waffle batter. Make the waffle batter by following your favorite waffle recipe. Any type of waffle recipe will work when cooking the waffles on the grill pan, as long as the batter is well-combined and made correctly.
- Preheat the grill pan. According to your grill pan’s cooking instructions, preheat it on medium heat. Spread canola oil or butter over it.
- The waffles will be ready to cook when the oil or butter melts on the grill pan. 
- Using a ladle, scoop waffle batter on the grill pan. Allow the batter to spread into a circle. The circles won’t look perfect because of the grill pan’s ridges, but the waffles will still come out fine. 
- Lower the heat and let the waffle cook. Bring down the heat to a medium-low temperature. This helps avoid the waffle from burning and blackening.  Let the waffle cook for about 5-6 minutes, until bubbles start to appear on the top.
- Flip the waffle with a spatula. If you can, try to flip it facing the lines of the grill pan. This isn’t a must, but it does help give it its waffle-like texture.
- Cook the other side of the waffle. Gently press on the waffle with the spatula so it can adhere the grill pan’s edges. Once done, place the waffle on a wire rack.
- Repeat the same steps until there is no more waffle batter. You may need to brush the grill pan with more oil or butter every now and then to prevent the waffles from sticking.
- Serve. Place a waffle on a serving plate. Drizzle maple syrup all over it and add other desired toppings. Enjoy!
- If your grill pan is big enough, you can make multiple waffles on it, rather than cooking each waffle one at a time.
- While you cook the other waffles, you can keep the waffles warm by placing them in the oven on the lowest temperature. 
- Feel free to add any other desired toppings to the waffles. Fruit, whipped cream, powdered sugar, sprinkles, nuts, bacon, and coconut flakes are all good options to consider from.
- Take caution not to over-cook the waffles. Lower the temperature when needed to prevent it from burning.
